SPE-tD cartridge for extraction of volatile organic compounds (VOC) from liquid matrices

Markes SPE-tD cartridges are poly-dimethyl siloxane (PDMS) coated for solid phase extraction of less volatile compounds in aqueous samples – solutions and emulsions.  Clean cartridges are simply placed into the liquid sample, held at a controlled temperature and agitated.  Volatile and semi-volatile organics partition between the PDMS coating and the liquid sample.  The cartridges are subsequently rinsed with distilled water, dried and analysed by thermal desorption.

SPE-tD provides a convenient alternative to conventional extraction and distillation methods for less volatile organic compounds in aqueous samples. The technique provides complementary information to headspace or purge-and-trap analysis of volatile components in the same liquid sample.
